The mission of the group is to be the link between the schools in Michigan and the youth in the different African organizations. We believe in the development of the young African mind through Leadership, Education, Character, Networking and Community Service. Our Vision is to have an ASA Chapter in all Colleges/Universities and High schools in Michigan.
For the past 5 years we have organized cultural and educational events and activities that help others to meet and network with other African student on various campuses around Michigan. We have partnered with several African professional organizations and individuals to present this event. Professionals in our community ranging from the medical, business and human services field will teach and educate us on personal and professional development. Seminars, workshops and discussion panels will be the medium of this educative presentation.
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the upcoming African Student Association of Michigan Leadership Conference 2012. This conference will be held at Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday, January 28th, 2012. We are expecting students and young adults from all over Michigan and they are eager to end the conference with a panel that summarizes what was new at the conference and points to the future.
We want to expand our networking arena with the rest of the Michigan community so that when our African students leave their various Michigan Universities and enter the real world they are prepared with the tools of professional etiquette and stamina to stand and overcome life’s hurdles.
I do hope you will be able to participate actively in this conference; your collective experience and comments will add an important dimension to what is potentially a very important discussion for the field.
